1 Commitments reinforced – Cargill formalized its Corporate Responsibility Commitments in a document published worldwide.
2 New plant – The company opened its first soybean processing plant in the state of Mato Grosso, in Primavera do Leste, where it invested R$ 210 million. This is where refining and packaging of Liza brand oil takes place, in addition to the production of soybean meal.
3 Biodegradable plastic – The company introduced Ingeo™ to Brazil, which is made from sugars and can be used in products such as utensils, cups, and packaging for cosmetics, food, and beverages.
4 Guarujá Terminal – Cargill secured the right to use the Guarujá Terminal, which is strategic for its operations, for over 25 years and renewable for the same period in partnership with Louis Dreyfus.
5 New products – Launches aligned with customer and consumer demand and with a view to enhancing quality and healthiness of products were significant throughout the year. Special mention can be made of new flavors of Liza salad dressings, a line of white chocolates and the expansion of the sweetener Eritritol Zerose.
6 Self-supplied energy – Biomass now accounts for 62% of Cargill’s energy matrix in Brazil and supplies 25% of internal energy demand thanks to investment in certified boilers for burning wood and sugarcane bagasse.
7 Heightened sustainability – Completion of the End to End Project: Sustainability Across Boundaries in partnership with Walmart provided environmental advances in the life cycle of Liza soybean oil, reducing water consumption by 26%, fossil fuel consumption by 56% and greenhouse gas emissions by 40%.
8 Social celebration – The Cargill Foundation benefits more than 46,000 students, 2,000 teachers, and 430 lunch ladies through its social programs across eight Brazilian states.
